Music Gear Setup 2.1
Continuing from my previous post
It was recommended online that another one of the first “upgrades” for an e-kit is getting an actual snare stand. I found the cheapest one on Amazon that looked like it should work and bought it and more drumstick sizes to try. I’ve been really liking the 2B with a practice pad but prefer the 7A for playing on the kit.
The stand felt a little short at first, but I think I have it in a good spot now. The stability gained from taking the snare off the rack is beneficial for both the snare and the rest of the kit.
This freed up some hardware to be able to move the right “crash” up out of the way of the lower “toms” - I was having an issue accidentally hitting the last tom (which I use for “Start” in Clone Hero) with the back of the stick when hitting the cymbal. I use both of the higher “crash” cymbals as green in Clone Hero for different drumming styles.
So far I’ve been playing a mix of Clone Hero, rudiments, and a little bit to drumless tracks on youtube. I’m certainly improving, but I’m not sure what my end goals are to determine best path. For now, i’m having lots of fun.
